PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: June 2024
Académie Dataloca Inc. (“Dataloca,” “we,” “our,” “us”) is a company offering online training specialized in data science and data management. We place a high importance on respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) describes the personal information that we may receive or collect from you and how we use, communicate, retain, and secure it. This will allow you to make informed and thoughtful choices.
This Policy applies to our platform dataloca.com (our “Platform”). However, we want to draw your attention to the fact that the rights and obligations described in this Policy do not cover third-party platforms that may be mentioned on the Platform. These third-party platforms have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them carefully.
- WHAT IS “PERSONAL INFORMATION”?
For the purposes of this Policy, “Personal Information” means any information that relates to a natural person and allows that person to be identified or, when taken separately or combined with other information, allows the identification of a natural person. Any information that does not relate to a natural person or does not allow a natural person to be identified is considered “Non-Personal Information,” which is not necessarily covered by this Policy, although we highlight the potential collection of such information for transparency.
- HOW DO WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
With Your Consent
Generally, we will obtain the Personal Information we need directly from you with your consent, subject to any applicable legal or regulatory exceptions. For example, Dataloca may need to proceed without your consent when, for reasons of fraud detection or prevention, requesting your consent would defeat the purpose of the action.
Dataloca primarily collects your Personal Information directly from you, for example, when you communicate with us, register for or use the Platform, or make purchases on the Platform. Your Personal Information may also be collected through cookies, from publicly accessible records, or from third parties as permitted by applicable law or if we have obtained the necessary consent.
Refusal to Collect and Withdrawal of Your Consent
You have the right, if you wish, to refuse the collection, use, and communication of your Personal Information. You may also, at any time and subject to reasonable notice and applicable legal or contractual restrictions, withdraw your consent regarding the use of the Personal Information we have in our possession by contacting us. However, you should be aware that if you decide not to provide your Personal Information, it could, for example, prevent you from accessing certain features of the Platform or other services from us, as this information is essential for providing the requested service.
We also want to inform you that anonymized information, which does not allow us to know who you are, may continue to be used despite the withdrawal of your consent.
Use for Secondary Purposes
Depending on the circumstances, Dataloca may also ask for your consent to use your Personal Information for secondary purposes, such as conducting market research or building its databases. Your consent for secondary use can be withdrawn at any time by contacting us, without affecting the provision of our services to you.
- WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
In the course of our activities and service delivery, the Personal Information or Non-Personal Information collected may include, but is not limited to:
- Your contact details (e.g., your name, email address, postal address, or phone number) for identification and correspondence purposes.
- Your login information, such as your username and password.
- Demographic information, such as your gender, date of birth, and age.
- Profile data you provide, such as your profession, identification information, interests, profile photo, title, spoken languages, links to a website or social media profiles, and your biography.

- Any other Personal Information you have provided to us.
Dataloca also collects information related to the use of its Platform, including technical information about your visits, your IP address during your last connection, or any other information collected through cookies. For more information on this, we invite you to read the “Cookies” section.

The Personal Information collected by or on behalf of Dataloca may be used for the following purposes:
- To communicate with you and assist you in the provision of our services.

In order to continually improve our e-learning content and better understand user interactions, we collect anonymized data from all e-learning content that does not require user login. This includes, but is not limited to, e-learning escape room games, lessons, quizzes, and other interactive content provided through our platform.
- Data Collection: When you engage with our e-learning content, we assign a random identifier to your interactions. This identifier does not allow us to identify you personally. The data collected may include information about your progress, responses, time spent on activities, and other interaction metrics.

- COOKIES
As mentioned in the previous sections, we may use various tools to improve your experience on our Platform and better understand user behavior, especially in connection with our marketing strategies. The following section aims to provide you with more information about our use of these tools and how we perform profiling, if applicable.
Cookies and Web Beacons
We may use cookies and web beacons. Generally, cookies are small data files commonly stored on your device when using websites and online services. Conversely, web beacons, also sometimes referred to as “web bugs,” are tiny images that can be placed in web pages or emails. For example, they can be used to anonymously obtain the number of times a particular page has been visited by a user or if an email has been read. As their name suggests, web beacons are invisible, and any part of our Platform, including the advertisements displayed on it, may contain web beacons. Unlike cookies, web beacons are not placed on your computer. In this Policy, we collectively refer to cookies and web beacons as “cookies.”
The Cookies We Use
Dataloca may use various types of cookies. As explained below, some of these cookies are strictly necessary for the proper functioning of the Platform, while others will be used if you have previously consented to them for functional, performance, or targeting purposes, or to share content on social media:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies. We use strictly necessary cookies to enable the proper functioning of our Platform, our security measures, and those of third parties. Without these cookies, the services you have requested cannot be provided.
- Functional Cookies (also called “preference cookies”). These cookies are not essential for the provision of our services. If you have consented to their use, these cookies facilitate the personalization and enhancement of the user experience. For example, they retain your communication and language preferences.
- Performance Cookies (also called “statistical cookies” or “analytical cookies”). These cookies are not essential for the provision of our services. If you have consented, we use performance cookies to understand how you interact with our Platform. Our partners may also use these types of cookies to analyze your use of our Platform and provide us with information about it. These cookies only produce statistics. For more information on our use of these cookies, see the “Analytics Tools” section.
- Advertising Cookies. These cookies are not essential for the provision of our services. If you have consented, we use advertising cookies to present you with relevant advertising content, including on social media. Additionally, our partners may use these cookies to determine if our advertisements have been displayed to you and if so, whether you have interacted with them. In such cases, our partners share data with us, including statistics on the performance of our advertisements.
- Sharing Cookies. Our Platform includes social media features such as the Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, or Instagram share button. If you use these features, they collect your IP address, the page you visit on our Platform, and create a cookie to link the content viewed on our Platform to your user account on these social media, if applicable. These functions may be hosted by a third party or directly on our Platform.
Analytics Tools
If you consent, Dataloca uses analytics tools to analyze the browsing behaviors of its Platform visitors. Additionally, we use the Google Analytics tool provided by Google LLC (“Google“) and the Veracity LRS provided by Veracity Learning to collect information on how you navigate our Platform and our e-learning content. You can get more information about Google Analytics here and Veracity LRS here.
Disabling Cookies You Have Consented To

In the course of our activities, we sometimes need to communicate your Personal Information to various stakeholders. However, we strive to only communicate your Personal Information in the manner described below:
- Our Employees. In the course of their work, our employees may need to access your Personal Information, for example, when you contact us for technical support. Their access is limited to what is necessary to perform their duties.

We may sometimes need to share your Personal Information with agents or service providers to help us make features of our Platform available (e.g., maintenance, analysis, legal requirements, fraud detection, marketing, and development). For more information on the transfer of Personal Information, see the “Do We Transfer Your Personal Information Outside of Quebec?” section.
- When required by applicable law to enforce rules or to protect the property or safety of our rights or those of others. For example, we may disclose Personal Information to legal or regulatory authorities if we suspect money laundering activities, insider trading, manipulative or deceptive business practices, or other criminal activities, or to detect and prevent fraud or to comply with the requirements of legislation or regulations from government agencies, regulatory bodies, or other self-regulatory organizations. We may also need to disclose Personal Information to comply with a legal obligation (e.g., a court order) or to protect our assets (e.g., to collect overdue accounts).
- Business Transfer. In the course of our business development, we may buy or sell businesses or services. In such transactions, Personal Information is generally part of the transferred business assets but remains subject to the promises made in any pre-existing privacy policy (unless, of course, the person concerned consents otherwise).
- Anonymously. Anonymized Personal Information may be communicated to third parties. For example, we may anonymize Personal Information to establish trends or statistics.
- DO WE TRANSFER YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OUTSIDE OF QUEBEC?
The Personal Information we collect is stored in its secure systems hosted on servers that may be located outside of Quebec, particularly in Ontario. We also retain the services of agents and service providers who may be located outside of Quebec.
However, we strive to protect the Personal Information we have under our control, including the Personal Information entrusted to an agent or service provider, whether they are located in Quebec or in other provinces, territories, or countries. We strive, in particular, to limit their access to the Personal Information necessary to perform the tasks assigned to them. Additionally, we make efforts to implement contractual agreements with these agents and service providers to ensure the confidentiality and security of your Personal Information. This may include implementing robust and effective security measures.
For any additional questions on this subject, you can contact us.
- HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
Your Personal Information will be retained for as long as necessary to achieve the determined purposes or to comply with the requirements provided in any applicable law regarding retention periods. Thus, the duration of retention of your Personal Information will vary depending on the purpose of its use. At the end of this period, we will strive to destroy or anonymize this information. If you want more details on this subject, we invite you to contact us.
You can request the deletion of your account at any time by sending an email request.
- HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We strive to apply necessary and appropriate security measures to ensure the confidentiality of the Personal Information in our possession. To do this, we follow generally accepted industry standards, particularly in terms of encryption, firewalls, and security protocols. Therefore, the Personal Information we hold is only accessible to people qualified to view it and who consult it only when necessary in the exercise of their functions.
Appropriate physical, technical, and administrative protection and security measures have been put in place and are maintained to minimize the risk of security incidents. If you believe that the security of your Personal Information has been compromised, we invite you to contact us.
